Best Serie A Kit of the 1990’s: Introduction and Rules

Ciao tutti e benvenuti to my blog. As you may know, I have a passion for Italian football, a passion that was kindled by it being available on Channel 4 in the 1990’s and early 00’s whilst the Premier League was hidden away on Sky.

As part of channelling this passion, I have decided to create a tournament to decide the most important question of all, who had the best kit in Serie A at the time? I appreciate that I may sound like a pure anorak at this point, but I think it might be interesting.

There are some ground rules before we start however, and these are.

  1. Home kits only – If more people other than me and my girlfriend read this maybe we can do away kits.
  2. In order to qualify for this tournament, clubs have to have been in Serie A for at least 5 of the seasons from 1990-2000. Clubs that lose out on this rule include Zdenek Zeman’s brilliant Foggia side and the Vicenza team that won the Coppa Italia in 1997.
  3. The third rule of Best Serie A Kit of the 1990’s is, please talk about Best Serie A kit of the 1990’s.

Thanks to rule 2, and my calculations, there are seventeen teams that qualify for this prestigious tournament. First there will be a qualifier between two teams who spent five years in Serie A in the decade, then a straight knockout tournament with no seeding, kind of like what the Champions League should be now. Ciao for now.
